Why renewals and auto-renew matter
A domain registration is a timed lease. When the Expires date passes without renewal, you risk losing the name to redemption or public re-registration. NextShopper lets you renew manually with Renew 1 year and optionally keep Auto-renew On so upcoming periods are billed before expiry.
This guide shows how to renew from the domain page, how to toggle auto-renew, and how to confirm the new expiry.
Who this guide is for
- Owners of domains nearing expiry (including Notices → Expiring soon)
- Customers who want auto-renew on or off intentionally
- Billing contacts who need the renewal invoice
Before you start
- Sign in and open Domains.
- Confirm a valid payment path for the renewal invoice.
- Know whether you want one manual year or ongoing auto-renew.
- If the domain shows Expired, look for Restore domain eligibility instead of a normal renew—restoration fees differ.
Step-by-step: renew one year
- Go to My products → Domains (
/client/domains). - Open the domain name.
- Review Expires and any “days left” indicator.
- Select Renew 1 year.
- Complete the invoice that is created—open Invoices and Pay now if payment is not automatic.
- Return to the domain page and confirm Expires moved forward by about one year.
Step-by-step: turn auto-renew on or off
- On the same domain page, find Auto-renew.
- Switch it On or Off.
- Wait for the save confirmation (Auto-renew updated.).
- Verify the Auto-renew column on the domains list matches your choice.
Auto-renew still depends on successful payment when the renewal invoice is due. Keep billing details and email verification healthy.
What happens next / how to verify success
- Manual renew: new Expires date; paid renewal invoice on file.
- Auto-renew On: list column shows enabled; you should still watch Notices near expiry.
- Home / Notices “Expiring soon” clears after a successful renew (allow a short refresh).
Common problems
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| Renew button missing | Domain may be locked in transfer/outbound state—check status messages |
| Payment failed | Update method; pay the open invoice; retry |
| Date unchanged | Refresh; confirm invoice paid; open a ticket with invoice number |
| Expired already | Use Restore domain if shown; act quickly |
| Auto-renew on but still expired | Invoice unpaid—check Invoices and email |
