Expired Domain Recovery Policy
This Policy explains what happens when a domain registered through NextShopper expires, and how renewal, grace, redemption, and deletion periods typically work. Exact timelines vary by TLD and registry; the sponsoring registrar and registry rules control. This Policy reflects common gTLD industry practice used by major registrars and resellers.

1. Your responsibility to renew
1.1 Domain expiry follows the registry’s expiration date for the name. 1.2 You are responsible for renewing on time even if reminder emails are delayed, blocked, or not received. 1.3 Keep Account email and payment methods current. Enable auto-renew where offered if you want us to attempt automatic renewal charges before expiry.
2. Typical lifecycle after expiration (gTLDs)
Many gTLDs follow a pattern similar to the following (durations vary):
| Phase | What usually happens |
|---|---|
| Expiration | Domain may stop resolving; renewal at standard renew price may still be possible for a short period |
| Auto-renew grace / registrar grace | Registrar may allow renewal without redemption fee for a limited number of days |
| Redemption grace period | Domain can often be restored for a redemption/restore fee plus renew — substantially higher than normal renew |
| Pending delete | Domain cannot be restored and will soon be released for general registration |
| Release | Domain may become available to the public; someone else may register it |
ccTLDs and some new gTLDs use different schedules. Check your portal or ask support for the TLD-specific timeline.
3. Fees
3.1 Standard renew pricing applies before redemption. 3.2 Restore/redemption fees are additional and are disclosed in Domain Fees or on the restore invoice when available. 3.3 Redemption payments are generally non-refundable once the restore command succeeds.
4. How to restore
Contact [email protected] or use portal restore tools where available as early as possible. Provide the domain name and Invoice preference. We will quote restore availability and fees based on upstream status.
5. No guarantee of recovery
We do not guarantee that an expired domain can be restored. Registry holds, disputes, auction processes, or pending-delete status may make recovery impossible. Once released and registered by a third party, we cannot retrieve it for you.
6. Services tied to the domain
Hosting, email, and SSL tied to an expired domain may stop working when DNS fails. Renewing or restoring the domain does not automatically refund downtime.
